The problem
Raise basket size and build a customer list before a new branch opened, for a brand whose own book keeps it away from discounts.
The role
Campaign strategist and marketer: concept, mechanic and economics, a Persian–English copy canon, staff scripts, print specs, the stamp set and the traveller’s page.
The result
A complete campaign, down to the line a cashier says when a rare stamp lands. It never launched, so there are no results.

01Context
A new branch and one summer to fill it
Narian is an Iranian womenswear brand: smart-casual clothes for modern, urban women, made by a group with more than fifty years in textile mills. Its slogan is “Smart. Stylish.”
In summer 2026 Narian was opening a new branch at Hadish Mall in Tehran, on 11 August (20 Mordad 1405). The campaign had the month before it, from 11 July, in every branch and in the online store.
The goals were bigger baskets through the summer, more return visits, a list of customers’ mobile numbers, and a run-up that made the opening an event.
02Problem
Bigger baskets, with no sale
The usual tool for bigger baskets is a discount. Narian’s brand book places the brand away from hype and show: composed, practical and trustworthy, and the campaign’s strategy note spells out the consequence, “not discount-driven”. A summer sale would have undercut the position the campaign was meant to support.
One branch’s window already showed the tension: a sale sign on a rack beside the brand’s own campaign panel. The campaign had to grow the basket through something shoppers would want to finish, and keep every reward away from price.
The reward had to be something a shopper wants to complete.
Keep it minimal/luxury and frame around the journey & collection, not the discount — protects Narian’s “not hype, not discount-driven” positioning.
03Research
Start from the brand book and the store
Before any mechanic, I turned Narian’s brand book into one reference note for the whole campaign: the palette and its rules (soft pink leads, magenta never sits next to blue-black), the Peyda and Gilroy typefaces, the tulip mark drawn from Persepolis reliefs, and a tone that is simple, warm and honest. Every later note points back to it.
The brand book’s three personas became the campaign’s audience, each matched to the class she was most likely to fly and the hook most likely to bring her back.
Then the store. Eleven photos of one branch, from the front and windows to the counter, the aisles and the fitting room, became a placement map: big messages on glass and lightboxes, the mechanics at the counter, the gate near the central platform where it wouldn’t block the aisle, and nothing over the logo.

04Approach
Every store an airport, every shopper a traveller
The campaign turns shopping into a trip. Each store becomes a terminal, the till a check-in counter, the prize wheel a departure gate and the staff a flight crew, and the shopper is always a traveller. One line holds it together: “Every Purchase is Your Ticket.”
Every journey flies to one place, the Final Destination: the Hadish Mall opening, where the campaign closes with a live draw. The same concept runs in every branch, and the travel themes live in the nine stamps.

05Mechanic
Three classes, one invoice
Spending sets a travel class, and the class sets how many times the traveller enters the Gate of Fortune. A single invoice of 5,000,000 toman or more is Economy, with one entry; 8,000,000 is Business, with two; 15,000,000 is First Class, with four.
The steps are deliberate. Entries go by the highest threshold met and amounts in between round down, so 7,000,000 toman is still Economy. Two invoices of 5,000,000 give two Economy entries, never one Business. And First Class jumps from two entries to four, a jump every mechanic note flags so nobody “corrects” it to three.
Each gap is also a line for the staff: at 7,000,000 toman a traveller is 1,000,000 short of a second entry; at 12,000,000, 3,000,000 short of four. The script frames it as a better trip and more chances, never as spending more.
The jump from two entries to four is the campaign’s upsell.

06Validation
The strongest mechanic was cut
The first design gave every spin a 24-hour voucher: nine vouchers, 10 to 40% off the next purchase. It would have brought shoppers back fast, and it would have taught them that Narian discounts.
At validation it was removed. Each spin now gives a dated stamp in the passport and one chance in the final draw, and nothing else. The prize moved to the end: a travel allowance for three winners, drawn live at the Hadish Mall opening, where winners have to be present. It sits outside the campaign budget, and its value was still to be set.
The early concept renders and the first landing page still show the voucher. The canon, the staff scripts and the second page follow the cut.
It was the mechanic with the strongest pull, and it went because it fought the brand.

07Collection
Nine stamps, equal chances
The gate lands on one of nine stamps in three bands: Discovery (Ocean, Desert, Coast), Sunshine (Sunshine, Palm, Sunset) and Premier (Lucky Day, Upgrade, Boarding). Premier stamps come up less often, which makes finishing the set a real challenge.
Rarity is only for the collection. Every stamp is worth one equal chance in the draw, the odds are never printed, and the nine sectors of the wheel are drawn the same size. Completing all nine adds bonus chances, five in the proposal.
Each stamp has a fixed Persian name and its own colour, the only colours the campaign adds to Narian’s palette. A small script draws all nine, so they share one ring, one typeface and one line weight.

08Copy canon
Every word from one note
A campaign that runs in every branch, online and in print has hundreds of places to say the wrong thing. So the words have one home: a Persian–English copy library with the locked signature and five alternative lines, the entrance and wayfinding signs, the check-in lines, the labels on the boarding pass and passport, the nine stamp names, and a glossary.
Its rules are specific. The shopper is always a traveller, never a customer; Persian copy uses Persian numerals, never “5M”; the gate opens with “Your gate is open”, never “spin the wheel”; and the three things called Boarding (the pass, the dated stamp and the Premier stamp) are never mixed up.
The staff script turns the canon into speech: seven moments from the greeting to the farewell, each written as a short English cue for the crew to remember, the Persian line they actually say, and what they do while saying it.
Do not rewrite or invent any name, slogan, amount or date. If a word isn’t here, check the canon first; if it isn’t there either, mark it as an assumption and settle it with the team. Every contradiction with this note is a bug.

09Print & space
A kit every branch can build
The visual briefs specify each object for print and build. The boarding pass is a 210 × 90 mm card with a 55 mm perforated stub to tear off. The passport is a B7 booklet, 125 × 88 mm and 8 to 12 pages, with the tulip embossed on a matte cream cover and a page of nine empty rings, each with a line below for the dated stamp.
The gate is a wheel 80 to 100 cm across with nine equal sectors and a pointer styled on a departures board. Signs use Gilroy capitals with open tracking. Everything is matte, as the brand book asks for physical builds, with foil kept for a few accents such as the rare stamps and the prize certificate.
One passport per traveller, for the whole campaign: issuing a second is one of the three errors the staff script forbids. And one concept for every branch, so the kit is produced once.

10Online
The same journey on a phone
Online purchases count too. A digital passport, an online gate and digital stamps are keyed to the same mobile number, so what a traveller collects in a store and online adds up in one passport.
The traveller’s page went through two generations. The first, on 30 June, explained the mechanic but still carried the voucher, a Business threshold of 10,000,000 toman, dates three days off, and five store “destinations”, one of them, Oasis, in no other note. It collected no phone numbers.
The second follows the canon: a countdown to the opening, the journey in five steps, the three classes, a demo gate, the nine stamps, the prize as a boarding pass, a sign-up that makes the mobile number the passport, five questions, six draw rules and a privacy note. I built it as a working prototype with Claude, from the campaign’s notes.

Ready to run, never run
The campaign never launched. Its window, 11 July to 11 August 2026, passed without it. Every cell of the KPI table is empty, the retrospective is a blank template, and there are no results to report.
The files show where the work stopped. Everything that needed creative or strategic judgement is finished. Everything that needed a decision from Narian is blank: no budget, no targets, no list of branches, and no value for the prize.
The work stops exactly where the client’s decisions begin.
12Key decisions
Five decisions that shaped it
Each one is written into the campaign’s notes with its reason.
01
Take the discount out of the gate
A voucher on every spin would have brought shoppers back within a day and taught them to wait for a discount, the habit the brand book rules out. The gate gives a stamp and a draw chance, and the only prize is a trip.
Alternatives
A smaller voucher, or points toward a later purchase.
Trade-off
Less pull at the gate, and a prize most travellers won’t win.
Evidence
The canon records the removal, and the staff script forbids the words “voucher” and “discount”.

15What I learned
What I’d keep, and what I’d change
01
Write the constraint before the mechanic
The voucher lost because the brand’s position was written down first. With the guardrail already in the strategy note, cutting the strongest mechanic took one honest check.
02
A canon needs a checker
The canon calls every contradiction a bug, and the deck brief banned the two worst drifts by name. A deck generated from that brief still brought back a discount wheel and named five winners instead of three. A rule only holds when every output is checked against it before anyone sees it.
03
Leave the client’s decisions visibly open
Budget, targets, branches and the prize’s value are Narian’s to set. The plan marks each one “to set” instead of guessing, so it can be handed over and priced as it is.

02
Four entries for First Class
Entries of 1, 2 and 3 would make the top class an ordinary step. Jumping from two to four gives a shopper near 15,000,000 toman a reason to go up, and makes First Class the fastest way to finish the set.
Alternatives
Linear entries, or one entry per million toman.
Trade-off
The biggest baskets collect a bigger share of the draw.
Evidence
Flagged in every mechanic note: it must not be “corrected” to three.
03
One invoice sets the class
Classes count a single invoice and round down. Two invoices of 5,000,000 toman give two Economy entries, never one Business, so splitting a purchase can’t game the jump.
Alternatives
Add up a traveller’s invoices across the summer.
Trade-off
Someone who shops twice in a week gains less than someone who buys once.
Evidence
An edge-case table in the travel-class note, with a staff line for each gap.
04
Rare stamps, equal chances
Premier stamps come up less often, which makes finishing the set a challenge. Each stamp is still one chance in the draw, so the draw stays fair, the odds stay unprinted and the wheel’s nine sectors are the same size.
Alternatives
Weight the draw by rarity.
Trade-off
A rare stamp feels special but wins nothing extra.
Evidence
Rule 4 of the draw rules on the second page.
05
One concept in every branch
The first landing page gave each branch its own destination. The canon moved every travel theme into the nine stamps, so every store reads as Narian and one kit serves them all.
